One of the UK’s largest electrical wholesalers has entered the building controls market with an aggressive push to provide better service to an industry dogged at times by lackluster performance from existing supply channels. National wholesaler WF Electrical is a company that has won numerous accredited awards for customer service and reports that its observations of provision in the building controls sector is generally below expectations.
Researching the available outlets for essential equipment for heating and ventilation engineers, WF was surprised to find significant inconsistency across suppliers. It also responded to feedback from its own customers that use WF to supply electrical equipment associated with HVAC installations.
Brian Smithers, managing director of WF Electrical commented. “Engineers are under increasing pressures to complete their fixes in ever decreasing timescales, yet remain on schedule. Glitches in the supply of essential parts can be both enormously frustrating and very costly”. Adding, “Being able to have the confidence that what’s ordered will arrive in tact and on time is a huge benefit to beleaguered engineers working to tight deadlines – especially if unforeseen equipment requirements emerge during an installation”.
Extensive surveys involving up to 10,000 customers at a time have revealed unequivocally to WF what engineers need from their suppliers. Number one requirement in every survey was for suppliers to keep their promises. In other words if goods are out of stock, or delivery cannot be guaranteed, customers should be told that at the point of order. That goods arrive on time, in the correct quantities and undamaged also ranked highly. Price was only the fifth priority.
As a result, the company has introduced to its portfolio a broad range of HVAC equipment from many of the industry’s leading manufacturers. This will enable engineers to access huge stocks from a large number of nationally distributed branches for next day or even same day delivery. Customers also gain the ability to shop from any branch on a national account, overcoming the need for various locally operated trading accounts to be set up.
Key manufacturers have been quick to take up the WF HVAC offer. Endorsing the move, Danfoss Randall’s Martyn Neil, the company’s Business Development Manager, stated “WF Electrical is establishing itself as a key supplier to companies and its commitment to stocks and on time deliveries gives Danfoss significant added value to its product range”.
There are other beneficial services available from WF, such as special account cards for authorised staff; personalised invoicing that can be used to track inventory against specific projects; technical assistance; and for those in facilities management applications, a 24/7 hotline service for urgently required parts.
A complete portfolio of brochures supporting the building controls offer, is available free of charge from WF Electrical.
